Does High Protein Breakfast Help To Lose Weight?

How often have you heard your parents say, “Breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince and sup like a pauper”. Despite what you believe, this is not an old wives tale made up to make children eat well. Research has showed that if you want to keep the pounds off, then you must follow this old proverb. In fact, it is the best plan for weight management. All your exercising and diet supplements will be of no use, if your diet is not proper.

Researchers have, since long, believed that having breakfast rich in protein satiates the appetite and curbs hunger pangs. Though, most of the hunger pangs that you experience are psychological and occur only when you pass the vending machine or your favorite café, the protein rich breakfast ensures that these pangs are eliminated.

To prove this, the Department of nutrition and exercise physiology, University of Missouri, conducted a study. Two groups of students were asked to participate in this research. One group was fed with a high protein breakfast that consisted of milk and cereal. The second group skipped breakfast. The experiment lasted for 3 weeks. During the entire period, a brain scan was conducted for the whole group just before lunchtime. It was found that the group that had breakfast reported satiety, while the other group suffered from hunger pangs continuously.
